Woman's book club in Chicago meets at The Hoxton in West Loop, Chicago. Women gather every month for celebration of Women's literature.

The Hoxton

After soft-starting Ladies Who Lit in early 2019, the club took a lengthy break from 2020-2022 (we all know why) after its first public event at The Hoxton, Chicago in January 2020. In 2023, Kaylen reconnected with The Hoxton’s events team, resulting in a quarterly event collaboration for 2024. The club grew exponentially last year, and we are so grateful to be gathering at The Apartment quarterly again in 2025. These events are free, and the closest LWL gets to a traditional book club. We drink wine and yap. And that’s beautiful.

An Unlasting Home by Mai Al-Nakib with Farah Salem at Hyde Park Art Center

Artist-led discussion of Farah Salem: Uninhibited People of the Earth. Together, An Unlasting Home and the exhibition presented an opportunity for further exploration of consistent themes throughout 2025 LWL programming: What is home? And how does home travel with us when we are forced to leave? How does migration from one land to another shift our stories and experiences?

Bunny by Mona Awad with the Joffrey Ballet and Petals & Jackets

A group seated performance of the Joffrey Ballet’s production of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, bookended with High Tea-themed discussions of Bunny, a modern retelling of Lewis Carroll’s classic tale. Through performance and curated discussion, the club tackled themes of choreographed group erotica, contemporary expressions of sexual agency, individuality versus commonality, and artistic interpretations of one story across mediums and centuries.
